István Vörös
writer, has been working with Baltazar Theatre since 2003
István is a writer and the theatre’s very own author. So far he has published 20 books of poetry, 3 novels, 5 volumes of short stories and 4 books for children, including Apám Kakasa (My Father’s Rooster), which he co-authored with János Lackfi. He teaches aesthetics and creative writing at university.
So far he has written 7 plays for Baltazar, and also took part in creating two of our books. “From the very first moment I’ve been enchanted by the actors’ discipline, their concentration, and the fact that they’re able to utilise spiritual and mental depths or resources in themselves that few people on the stage are capable of. Baltazar’s plays always contain a strong sacred element, which probably shows best and most strongly in The One Born Laughing. That’s one of my favourite plays. But the The Comet with its lyrics, and the poetic world view of Dandelion/Dust are also a great experience,” István says.
