First performance: November 21, 1998, FMK (Ferencváros Community Center)

Awakenings was Baltazar Theatre’s debut performance in 1998. Even the title had a symbolic meaning: when we wake up, our eyes open and we see the world in its reality. And that’s exactly how the Baltazar Company stepped out of nothingness, from one moment to the next, and that’s how the audience saw them too, looking at them in wonder. Director Dóra Elek basically built the choreography for this performance to fit the actors’ favourite Hungarian musical tracks, and then placed these short scenes into a story frame.
